Masters Roofing & Construction is a family-run business based in Worthing. Dean Masters has been working on roofs and building projects for over 25 years, and he still prices, plans and oversees every job himself — which is the whole reason the reviews read the way they do.
There are two kinds of roofing company. One is a name on a van with a sales rep who quotes and a subcontracted crew who turn up. The other is a tradesman who has been doing it long enough to have an opinion, who comes and looks at your roof himself, and who carries the consequences of what he specifies. This is the second kind.
Dean has spent over twenty-five years on roofs across Sussex. He started on the tools and never really left them — he still surveys every job, writes every quotation and is on site for the work. When you ring the number on this site, you get him or someone who works alongside him, not a call centre and not an appointment-setter.
What that means practically is that you get straight answers. If a repair will solve it, that is what you will be told, and we will happily do the small job rather than manufacture the big one. If a full replacement genuinely works out better over ten years, you will be shown why, with the numbers. Nobody here is on commission.
The other thing it means is that the standards do not drift. Site swept at the end of every day, not the end of the job. Your property sheeted and protected. Nobody smoking on your drive. It comes up in the reviews more than the roofing does, which tells you something about how low the bar is elsewhere.

RESTEC trained installer for liquid applied systems and Flexitec 2020 fibreglass, approved for the SIG Roofing One Warranty, and still doing the re-roofs, repairs, lead work and building work that make up most of the week.
Not a mission statement. These are the four decisions that actually change what a job costs and how long it lasts, and they are the ones cheaper contractors get wrong.
No quotes off a photograph from the pavement and no ballpark figures over the phone that turn into an argument later. We get up on the roof, find the actual cause, and put a written price against what we found.
If a repair does the job, we will recommend the repair. If the roof is tired but working, we will tell you to leave it. We would rather have the small job and the recommendation than the big job and the regret.
Battens, membrane, deck condition, fixings, upstands and outlets. Every one of them is invisible once the job is finished, and every one of them decides whether the roof lasts five years or thirty.
Sheeted up, swept and cleared at the end of every day, magnet-swept for nails, and everything we strip off goes with us. It is the single thing customers mention most in our reviews.
